Canon Background:
Izumi Curtis lost her only child through a miscarriage. Devastated by her loss, Izumi secluded herself and attempted to perform human transmutation on her dead child in order to revive her lost son. The reaction failed and Izumi lost the majority of her internal organs. Izumi miraculously survived the rebound and her remaining organs took over most of her lost organs' functions. Among the organs lost was Izumi's internal reproductive organs, thus keeping Izumi from every having anymore children. From the transmutation, Izumi gained the ability to perform alchemy without an array and the insight of death.

Izumi took the Elric brother's under her wing when she was passing through Rizenbul and stopped the flash flood that was occuring from destroying the small farming town. When the Elric brothers had seen her quick alchemy, they had already adopted her as their personal instructor. Izumi refused the request at first, but once she was informed that the boys had been orphened, she accepted and brought them with her as apprentices.

Age: about 44 years old
(I did the math. She was 18 in 1887, according to the guidebook. Ed and Al burned their house in 1910, so that is a 23 year difference. Then we give Ed another 3 years to become 15. (I know Ed burned the house at 11 years old, but his bday came shortly after) 26+18=44, so Izumi is 44 years old when Ed is 15)


Important Changes to Said Background: N/A, since we've already said that Rizenbul and Dublith both existed in the ToS-verse, but weren't big enough to map or have Lloyd pass through.
